ID Excel questions

I want to get into a detector that uses VDI numbering and the ID Excel looks pretty good to me. I have several questions: (1)I have some trashy areas. How does the ID Excel compare with other detectors in the same price range for target seperation? (2)All the detectors I have had so far auto track the ground after initial ground balancing. The ID Excel doesn't appear to have an auto ground track capability. How would you know when the detector needs to be ground balanced again during detecting? (3)Anybody got an opinion of how well the ID Excel would do in red clay soil? I live in middle GA. The red clay soil can be significant in some of the areas. Also, how would it do in dry and wet salt beach areas such as Savannah? I currently have a Garrett GTP 1350 and it seems to do okay in the red clay. I'm finding coins at 6"+. I found other items at almost 10" in the red clay soil. Thanks for any responses.
