Here's a Goody that I have not been able to find out anything about. It is a small button(APPROX 1/8th smaller than a dime). It has a screw on back & was found in a WW2 training camp. Around the edges it reads "EIGHTY MINUTE MEN CLUB" ...."EASTERN AIRLINES" is in the middle by the bird &
"N.S. MERVER, NEW YORK" is on the back. Picture of the back is in next post.
I sure would appericate a positive ID & any info on a possible value!!
Thanks Alot,
Mike

Description (revised)
Up for bids is this 5/8" diameter silver lapel pin, circa 1930's-40's. Shows logo of stylized eagle with Eastern Air Lines typeface. Words around top perimeter read: "Eighty Minute Men Washington-NY". A great piece of airline memorabilia being sold WITH NO RESERVE!
Just wanted to mention that this pin attaches with a screw-on closure, not a pin back.

...this has the ring of a David Ogilvy ad campaign... a play on words with the 80 Minutemen of Lexington during the Revolution, developed for Eastern for an 80 minute route between New York and Washington.
I'd bet there's a vintage magazine ad for it out there somewhere.

I clicked watch this item & I will be able to look at it for a week or so. I may try to contact the winner & see what they can tell me about it. The only differance in that one & mine is mine just states "CLUB" not "WASHINGTON-NY"
Thanks for tracking it down!!

I tried to find information on that button for about an hour and came up empty handed. You da man!

...gosh, did you see the close of the auction, Mike? Not bad, eh?
As Nim said, there is precious little information out there right now on that pin and that ebay auction will soon disappear. I'd say pretty good timing, we lucked out on that one!
Sounds like a plan to contact the buyer, you'd figure he knows what he was bidding on to pursue it like he did. Maybe he'd be interested in your variation as well?
That was fun, Mike, thanks for posting!

Yeah it doubled in price in the last 49 minutes. It was at 13.50 when I saw it last night. Thanks for the info Steve. I had checked Ebay & every other search engine I could think of hundreds of times over the last year trying to find out info on this joker!!
