ID normal question

Terry(Mi) said:
I believe it does

If it does then the factory programs tone breaks may very well be set wrong. Depends
Now that daylight has arrived I will do some testing to find out.
Thanks for the reply

Yes, when you go into OPTION >> CONFIGURATION >> PROFILE >> ID NORM and select YES, it normalizes all of the programs - preset and custom - to the TID's that are produced at 18kHz

Not sure what you mean about the factory program tone breaks being set incorrectly . . . . they were not designed for US coin hunters. Remember, it is easy to create custom tone breaks and set the tones accordingly.

The ID NORM function is of limited value since it compresses the targets most of us in the US are searching for and makes it harder to differentiate good and bad . . . the 8kHz and 12kHz options tend to provide more spread and aids in identiying targets

Let me know if this is clear or you would like more details

I did not have the manual or your book when I got to thinking about I'd normal. Really did not mean to imply that the factory tone breaks were wrong. My thinking at the time was that if I built a custom program using 18 kHz ID numbers setting the tone break points to my preference that if I decided to switch to a factory program with their preset break points if I would get a mid tone instead of a high tone. After checking the factory programs break points I realize that it would not be a problem for the most part on most coin type targets.

Was thinking out loud when I should have waited.

What are your thoughts on running the Deus with 4hkz? Have been told that 4hkz should only be used with the large coil. Can you elorbrate on this it's use with the stock coil?

Thanks for your time

While I initially used the Normalize function to make the learning of new VDIs easier, I have come to learn what Andy said above that if you normalize VDIs you lose your ability to set another program (adjacent) to another frequency to further distinguish trash.

So for the most part............not a used function on a daily basis???

I've never used it--it's too limiting as was pointed out...I'm waiting on a software update that'll hopefully include the ability to normalize to any of the frequencies. I'd mainly use a normalize to 4KHz option if available.

I use 4 on the 9 and 11 inch coils, love it!

That would be great for silver and coins if you use that have your reactivity set to about one and try TX power at three
