if the excal is so good on gold why no land version ?

as they claim its good on gold where is the land version ?or does it hold up on land too?

The Excal is a waterproof Sovereign, but the Sovereign has a few more options like the notch and you can use a meter. The Excal can be used on land too, but a bit heavy. I have several around here that have a excal, but use the Sovereign for their lake and river hunting and have them in protective waterproof boxes and only going knee deep.

i cant use the minelabs due to the weight factor but hope they introduce lighter machines or belt mountable designs

Mine IS a land version. I use it more to hunt on land than I do on water. I just followed Oldbeechnut's design for a custom straight shaft to lessen shoulder strain.

Stock, out of the box the Minelabs are about as ergonomic as a metal folding chair, but with a well balanced straight shaft the GT and Excalibur feel incredibly light. Also, they are both easily hip mounted which takes a great deal of the weight off your arm/shoulder.

Targets, both the Sovereign and Excal, can be belt mounted. There are a lot of people who are not cut out to be a Sovereign user.Good Luck Ron

I really don't think that the Excalibur and Sovereign are better at detecting gold than any other competent detector. Especially small gold. What these two detectors do very well is handle ground mineralization including wet sand. And they have the tenacity to punch deep while doing it. That is what makes them special. Their ability to find gold has nothing to do with it.

If you put it together like this it doesnt weigh much and i doubt theres a machine much lighter to swing. A lot of the gold found by the Xcal is IN THE WATER and most machines that can handle the SALT water will find gold. Truth is there isnt very many VLF machines that can handle the salt water. So your odds improve in the water with the number of targets .... and the number of people able to get wet. Beaches get hunted as much if not more than a park..... but most just dont do well except on the dry sand.
