The answer is the MD Plague or something much worse. I was thinking no detecting today. I had a long list of chores that I had to do. I'll still have them to do tomorrow. I am so damned predictable.
I set out 8 hours ago to hunt for only about 2 hours and then come home and do chores. Yeah, right. My problem began when I went to a new site that was awful. I walked around for about 45 minutes and only found 3 coins and a few pull tops. I didn't have a backup site nearby so I went off down the road into the unknown. First site I came to had obviously never been detected. I never made it out of the bark chips. and I only did about half of them. If I didn't need a drink and a restroom, I'd still be there. 182 coins in 2 1/2 hours. I really needed a break. I was about 40 miles from home and while resting my back decided on another school I had looked at but never made it to. 12 miles away and still about 35 miles from home. I had a real nice kid in tow the whole time there. He became my digger and slowed me down a little but not too much. He also snagged a few coins (with permission, of course.) Hunted there for 2 1/2 hours too. 127 coins. Many many coin spills. I need to go back there too. Maybe this weekend.
Yesterday I was talking a lot about goals and record hunts. Here is a new record day for me. 309 coins. Should stand for a while. Nothing else to really speak of. A whole lot of digging. Sore everything. I ended up driving over 100 miles which is too much for clad hunting. The one chore I did get done before I left this morning, clean the bathroom, was undone when I came home all muddy.
I also filled my second to my last spot in my State Quarter folder. 43 hunts to get to this point. Not surprisingly, I am missing Hawaii. I thought with a bark chip hunt I would have scored one today.
I'd say I am not going to detect until Memorial Day weekend but that might not be exactly the truth.
Thanks for looking!
Chris
Did you notice with all those coins I was well short of 40 nickels? I am going to see coins in my sleep tonight.
