I found a new site today and called my hunting buddy to come on over. We hunted from 9:30 to 2:30 and it started snowing. My finds consisted of a clad nickel, half a spoon, 2 pieces of copper pipe and a little wheel thingy. Oh, and lots of Cut nails of varying sizes.
My buddy got lots of nails and some other junk but he tripped over a Half Cent and not long after that an 1898 Barber Half Dollar. It was his day to shine.
This has happened more than once for sure. But You have to take each hunt with optimism and renewed vigor. Concentration and the idea that your going to hit at any given moment.
One thing to remember is you can miss by an inch and thats a fact. Why do you think so many finds are made on hunted ground. I'm not talking about the coins on edge or masked by trash or whatever. I'm talking about coins that are just plain missed by others.
Keep on keepin on and the finds will come.
