Illinois Man's High School Ring Found Buried in Cave 44 Years After It Disappeared

Associated Press

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. - In 1965, Clarence "Corky" Iversen Jr. gave his girlfriend his class ring. About 44 years later, it was found buried in a cave in a Skippy peanut butter jar about 115 miles away.

He's still trying to figure out how it got there.

"Bonnie was in gym class one day and she said the ring was becoming a problem. I think they were playing volleyball," said Iversen, 65. "She set it behind a pole in the gym so she wouldn't lose it, ruin it, or cut her finger."

When she went back, the ring was gone.

Iversen said he was upset at the time

Interesting story. If it weren't for the mention of being buried in 1965, I might be inclined to think it was a more recent geo cache. As is, it makes a nice puzzle.

If you want to see how that all come about. It was just a week or so ago ,on the BH forum. Under thread "where to go when it rains"
The fastest I have ever seen a original post about a found ring, not to mention these circumstances, and then to have found the owner and somewhat figure it all out.. within a matter of days really. We was having some fun with it as it unraveled.
It really is a odd story.

Last12know is the Man. To correct flash5153 a little, the owner was contacted within hours of the first post and returned the message that day. And yes we did have fun with it. I don't think we were much help though. Last12know is a young guy, he could have pocketed the $75.00 and never said a word to anyone.
