I'm asking for Aquasearch and Infinium coil pictures

I am curious about the underside of the coils on both machines without coil covers. Could someone please post a detailed picture?

The coil cover offered with the Infinium looks like a giant flat disk. This will not work well for me in the rough surf! Also, Willy's constant complaints about the design of it's discriminating method scares the bajeesus out me. I like triggers too because fumbling with a dial is a bummer!!

Eric Fosters Ultimate machine, the Auquasearch, doesn't appear to have/need a coil cover. Is this true?

I hate coil covers and if I can do without then I'm happy! Thanks to Marine Epoxy!

I see no reason for a coil cover on the factory DD coil, it is filled with epoxy, as far as use at the beach and especially notin the water. If you were nugget hunting with it and didn't want bushes or heavy grass hasnging up in the open web, you might want a coil cover, but beaches and water, no need. Don

Steve,

I use the Goldquest SS (same coil as the Aquasearch). They are unbelievably tough...been using mine in and out of the water for 3 years and have only surface scratches visible. The wiring is encased by epoxy which must be at least 5mm thick at the bottom of the coil. My Excal coil looks very similar in material...I don't use a coil cover on the BBS coil either. The pictures are of the Goldquest 11" mono coil....

Hope this helps,
Tony.:ausflag:

They are no coil covers for the Aquasearch. It is simply just not needed. The coil is tougher than any cover. Never have seen one ever ground down with use.

Coil covers are not a good idea with any detector working the beach, surf, water. Nasty, fine particles of mineralized sand get between the cover, and coil causing falsing.

My post was regarding the Infinium, but the same applies to the Aquasearch, it is filled with a light weight epoxy also. Don
