So we went on vacation to N. Ga Mtns for New years. It was a nice vacation, but I was ready to come home and use my "new to me" used Excal I bought just before we left for the states. I had it delivered to my mom's house in Fl. It was really cold for me having been in Grand Cayman for the past 3 years, so didn't really get to practice with it hat much. We are back now, and after 4 hours of use....GOLD. I can't say that I have used it enough to know the tones yet, but it was nice to get gold after 3 weeks of not detecting at all. I am currently listening to Tony's CD I picked up from Kellyco while typing this. Before I forget, Kellyco in Orlando was great. Leilani helped me out with the cd and a S.E.F 6x8 coil for my MXT. As busy as they were, the staff was very willing to help with any questions I had. Now back to the gold....I also pulled this little siver ring also. I am going to practice with it some more before I start bugging GulfHunter and Gene for help. I am currently running it at Disc 1, vol high, threshold at a nice hum, and in pinpoint, then checking it with the Disc??? Does this sound right so far guys? It seems to be running stable. FYI it is the 94-96 model. There was a BIG scoop with it as well as a new battery pack, however it was for the newer ones I guess, so I just trimmed the plastic of the sides of the pack so it would fit where the original battery went (the old ones were cut square and the new battery's are more angled. So I got the Excal, scoop, and new extra battery for $500 us...not bad considering the scoop was $150 at Kellyco, and the battery was like $80 I think. I am thinking this ring may have just paid for it. I am going to have some of the gold/diamond rings I found tested to see if they are real. I am pretty sure I would have found these rings with my MXT, but I am trying to learn sounds and trying to get my pinpoint skills down a little better before I go in the water with it. I have a lot of hunting here since I have been gone for almost a month and nobody has been detecting these beaches at all. So I am going to get back out there this afternoon and do some more digging. Hope you all enjoy. We had a 5.8 earthquake here yesterday, the center was 38 miles away from my house. Thank God it only lasted for about 3 seconds. I thought the house was coming down for all 3 of those seconds.
