Hit Myrtle Beach this weekend. It was terribly sanded in. And the waves were too big to even try to surf hunt. Found one gully that I worked with the Excaliber and picked up a few coins on the ocean side of the gully (kind of unusual because usually most of the targets are on the beach side of the gullies). The next low tide, 2 AM, I took the Goldquest and hit the same gully (it had changed very little). I pulled 4 nickles, one dime and one penny and some rusted jewelry. No gold but finding the nickles in quantity gave me the confidence that if the gold was there I would have found it. The Excaliber certainly did not find the nickles. There were some targets that I just could not dig, the sand filled in faster than I could get it out. The Goldquest is for young men that are willing to be grave diggers. <img src="/metal/html/tongue.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":b"> I've learned to hate the small signals. I think that hitting an area with the Excaliber or Explorer and then going back over productive areas with the Goldquest is a good strategy. I definitely will not use it on the upper beach, there is just way too much trash.
