I'm Praying..........

Just finding out about the tornadoes in MO. that are taking place now. My prayers are with them, and especially Ma. Here in Alabama things are beyond devastated. We are used to tornadoes and dealing with severe weather on a far too regular basis, but what hit us on April 27th is unimaginable. On that day 238 (the last count I've heard) died in Alabama alone. If you're not here, then you cannot even begin to imagine what our people and our state has been through and continue to go through. Even if you see the pictures and hear the stories on TV, that is no comparison to the real story. People are suffering here. That event has been declared the worst in history for tornadoes and damage. Even people who did not have damage, some are struggling with post traumatic stress syndrome just from the things we've seen and dealt with. All of my family is safe and we didn't have major damage at my house but I know that the things I went through that day changed something inside of me forever. I have been in tornadoes before (not just near - IN), but I guess it was my circumstances that day that made a difference. I don't remember EVER being under such mental and emotional stress and being so torn apart. I'm not an overly emotional person but I sat down around midnight that night and cried like a baby, and did so for the next few days. I'll tell yall about it sometime when I get a chance - of course you know my long stories. lol I say all of that just to let you know, Ma, that if you are able to be online to read this, I am praying for you and all of the areas being hit right now. Please pray for the people of Alabama, we all, whether we had a direct hit or not, need your prayers. So many folks are in desperate need of help of every kind. The stories fade away in the media outside of the state, but the tragedy and NEEDS will go on here for years to come. So much of the state is torn apart... or no longer exists, and there are no quick fixes.

Praying for all of MO, and ma for sure.
Prayers for you and the folks in all the states that were affected by the other tornados.

Thank you, Mike. We appreciate the prayers.

Lisa, I have been in prayer for you, your family and friends and the state of AL in general since the outbreak. It's so horrible and I'm sure you are right....we cannot begin to imagine or comprehend the damage you all are living with. I was telling Travis earlier that I anticipate being in a somber state of mind tomorrow as we travel through AL. My prayers will continue, of course. We are praying for Ma tonight as well and hope she checks in soon. In my quest to finish up last minute vacation chores and attend church today, I hadn't seen the new to know of severe weather in MO.

Thanks Liz. Maybe yall wont see any of the damage as you travel through. I'm not sure how much damage is along Interstate 65 that yall will be traveling - maybe nothing that can be seen from there. There wasn't too much at all in the lower 1/3 of the state. Hopefully all you will see are a few downed trees here and there... if you see anything at all. You don't want some of the other images burned in your memory. I'm glad South Alabama wasn't hit like central and north Bama was. Maybe the folks down there where you will be will have a better frame of mind. :)

My pleasure to pray for you sis!

from the tornadoes! We had a lot of strong wind today off of the tornado they had in Oklahoma but otherwise had a a nice weekend...had three whole days without rain but it is storming in the Northwest tonight with some rumbling and lightning! I am okay as of now and hope and pray to remain that way! My prayers are for you and all the others in Alabama and the other states that were hit so hard by the tornadoes and all the flooding that is going on here in MO and down southward....the Black River flooded in MO which flows into the White River and there has been terrible flooding all along it and the Mississippi River! We have to trust in God and lean on Jesus for trials of all kinds come and because of prayers we are kept safe in His everlasting arms! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Hi Lisa,

My prayers have been sent. You are absolutely right, "The stories fade away in the media outside of the state" CT news broadcasts it and then it is back to "normal" talking about other topics. I can't even begin to understand or comprehend the magnitude... but Like I stated earlier, you have my prayers. As a nation, we all need to pull together in times of crisis right here in the U.S.. Lisa you make another very good point, "So many folks are in desperate need of help of every kind" My own personal belief is that gov't needs to do is STOP rebuilding and sending billions of $$$ over seas and start helping to rebuild our citizens lives right here - we need to pull troops from foreign lands and bring them home to help build new homes, provide security and safety, food supplies, medical staff, care for the "wounded" and when I mean wounded, I mean physically, mentally, monetarily, spiritually praying and emotional support. Our own country is being neglected by the very people that swore to uphold their duties and make this nation a "better" great nation to live in. Since I am on the topic of our military, I thank every military service personnel (past, present and future) for serving this great nation.

Praying for every one in Alabama and MO. It's really bad in Mo. Pray they find more survivors........]

Thanks Boo and everyone for your prayers for me and for the others who've been destroyed and misplaced by the damages of so many disastrous tornadoes! I didn't know about Joplin, MO until after posting on here last night! My cousin in MS and I had been talking on the phone from 5:00 to 7:00 PM so didn't hear and see about all the damages and deaths that had occurred in the city until much later! St. John's hospital was completely destroyed with blown out windows and debris hanging all over it and heard it had been on fire earlier but don't know about that for sure, although there were houses on fire and burning with huge flames! Electric is out and even down in Springfield where Lois' two sisters live (my cousins also) and they don't know how long before it will be restored! We had terrible winds here, yesterday, durig the day before the tornado hit Joplin, so guess they got most of the winds with a tornado hitting a very broad area! So far today they have said that at least 90 have been killed and the pics of the part of the city hit is like nothing I have seen nor others have neither! The news people said it is the worst tornado in 60 years, I think, and then with the rain and hail today, lots more have been destroyed making it worse than ever!

I called Lois this morning to find out about her and her sisters and though she had rain all day....she is okay, but the electric is out for Ruth and Becky! I know what being without electric is because it was over a week when we had a severe storm during the summer before we had electricity in the South County areas and lots of people lost food and I lost some....kept ice bags in the freezer which helped! Also had ice storms during the winter with electric out! While talking to Lois big black clouds appeared in the Northwest with thunder and lightning and just after we hung up, the winds were blowing with such force that I was thinking we were going to have a tornado or damages from a straight wind! I prayed and prayed and prayed until the blackness became clearer and the winds died down as they passed on over downtown St. Louis and over into IL. I prayed for them, also, and soooo glad I didn't lose my electric, as I had to use the Computer to pay (7) bills and didn't want to not be able to do so! They are paid and don't have any more to pay for awhile! I praise God and Thank Jesus, for sparing me and us in South County! We did have plenty of rain and pea size hail....but no damages that I know of! They said last night when we were having lightning that it struck a home and it burned but not sure what area it was in!

Iceland had their Volcano to erupt again, Sunday, so with the tornado and the volcano eruption, the earth is really moving underneath and we don't know for sure when things really start happening for getting even worse, but we know Who our shelter in the storms is and He is Jesus, Whose mercy and grace endures forever and ever and Who answers the prayers of His saints! May God Bless His people and our loved ones with provisions and protections! Amen! Ma Betty

Thank you! Great post. I agree with you, 200%
