Been spending more time on my Explorer SE Pro more now, and things are starting to make more sense. I've been keeping it mostly in the factory presets and going really slow. I hardly find nickels but I am getting better at finding the deeper coins among trash. For example, today I found a wheat cent at around 6" with a really old rusty bottle cap in the same whole. Now the signal was bouncing alot but I was still getting the hi tone in there and the cross hairs kept going back to the penny area, so I decided to dig. I probably would have passed it up if I was using my CZ. I ended up finding 3 wheats in a really pounded area that I've been hunting since '87. I am now tending to keep it on the Smartfind screen more and more. I cant wait till I get my 8" and 5" SunRay coils, whenever Ralph makes them, all I have is the stock 11" coil, not to good in the trash.
Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

That's great, Aaron. :thumbup:

If you feel a little more brave, you can slowly start to open up your discrimination screen/iron mask setting a little more (use less discrimination). I'd start out with a simple iron mask setting of around 22. It's a lot less discrimination than the default coin/jewelry pattern, that I assume you're using right now. This will allow you to pull even deeper coins hiding next to iron and other trash that you may or may not hear with the default coin/jewelry pattern.

do exactly what he suggested...but don't change anything else right now.

Put that iron mask at 22 while hunting in the smartfind screen...but leave everything else alone...and see what happens.
 
The factory ironmask preset is already set at 22. The only thing I can see changes when you reset is the sensitivity which reteurns to 22, I have been running it at 28.

Aaron...if you are hunting in the factory preset startup settings...then the screen will look like a staircase of black.

Just hit the iron mask button...which is preset at 22 as you mentioned.

Then hit the "detect" button and you will now be in the iron mask 22 setting while hunting in the smartfind screen.

About the left 1/3 of your smartfind scren will be black.
