During my DOWN time i was reading a little of Andys book AGAIN. I noticed he said IM was based on the FERR content of the target. Soooo i grabbed a quarter and said let me disc and see at what point i loose a target. Well at IM 2 on a quarter that is normally 00 29 it would read it. That 2 out of 32. Some has asked at 0 does it disc out everything... the answer is yes. Sooo like most of us i had a HOT ROCK laying around. They normally read 00 31 in a field. What i found was it read 00 22 even wet and before it was cleaned. What did it read? Well you could hear it at 1 IM. What this told me is it might be taking COND readings in as well. Most detectors that have a VDI, notch, pattern, or any form of disc WONT notch out a single digit. Those digits next to it are affected as well.... that can be as many as 4 or 5 digits either way. You need to take that into consideration when putting your pattern together. By looking at the Hot Rock it appears to be copper ore.... its kind of green with a red tent. I just thought this was interesting because to me IM seems to be affected more by COND than FERR with wrap around and those digits being affected around it.
