just playing guys... try typing in some words like: Victorian jewelery or watch fob, hit search and see what happens. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
<form action="http://images.google.com/images" name=f target=_blank>
<input maxlength=256 size=25 name=q value="">
<input type=hidden name=hl value=en>
<input type=submit value="Search" name=btnG>
</form>

...the image searches are kinda finicky and more than two words seem to bog them down.
typing in the words differently, also bring up different results, for example:
victorian jewelry
"victorian jewelry"
victorian+jewelry
After that, then there are countless ways to prod and poke at it:
Victorian broaches
Vintage broaches
Antique broaches
Victorian pins....
The results are only as good as the description or the picture title at the other end. "Old thingy" might just bring up exactly what you are looking for. <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">
Also:
If you get several pages of results, go to the last page and you will see this message:
>>>In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 28 already displayed.
If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included.<<<
Clicking on this link, will often bring up a whole lot more.
The advance search at google is also very handy. You'll find that on the google page, by clicking the "Advanced image search" link. It's pretty self-explanitory. Play with it. Even with this feature however, several words or phases will bog down the image search a lot faster than a standard text search.

If you do a search, say for artillery button (try it), you'll come up with lots of hits. If there is one from a site that looks particularly interesting, copy the address, for example, www.civilwarrelics.com, and paste it into the search bar adding "site:" like this...
site:www.civilwarrelics.com
(see link below)
With a site: search, Google will show you every picture posted on that site. Very cool feature.

This image search from Altavista, kinda like Coke and Pepsi. Personally, I like the Google for it's advanced search features as well as it seems to search through the text descriptions on the page, not just the image title.
However, the Altavista search will sometimes bring up images missed by Google, plus it has the cool feature of showing all images from the page, when you click on more info under a pic.
AltaVista image search below:
<form action="http://www.altavista.com/sites/search/mm_imageresults" name="mfrm" target=_blank>
<input type=text name=q size=25 maxlength=800 value="">
<input type=submit value=Search>
<input type="hidden" name="pg" value="q">
<input type="hidden" name="stype" value="simage">
<input type="hidden" name="imgset" value="2">
</form>

I have saved it to my favorites and will have fun with it.Thanks!
