They are a very good and popular headphones here in the UK,very good quality although i have heard some Aussie folks cannot be pleased with these headphones, but like most things in life you always get the odd one dont you

I want headphones for my X-Terra mainly. The Jolly Rogers I have for the F19 and F5 don't work on my X-Terra. I have a pair of Treasure Wise on my X-Terra but the sound is muffled (no extension, no highs). I came upon an add for Sprite headphones and from there landed on the Chefphones site both of which I had never heard of before today.

My son and daughter in law both use Jolly Roger headphones on their X-Terra detectors with absolutely no problems.

My goodness thanks for the message. I tried them again and sure enough no sound BUT tried with the mute switch on the reverse side of when I use the F19 or F5 and bingo it works ! I was under the assumption that the switch was only used for killing the sound but no, it's a compatibility switch as well. I had to go on Detector Pro's site to see details about that. Why can't they package headphones with a simple instruction leaflet explaining this ? One thing I noticed is that the volume has to be cranked on both the detector and the headphones compared to the Fishers. Also, in prospecting mode the volume has to be maxed out completely and I wonder if it would be enough out of the house in heavy winds and other ambient noises. In any case thanks George.

It appears that all minelab detectors work better with volume cranked up to full. At least I find that my Xcal and Sovereign GT certainly work better. I started to ask you about the switch as it is so that the headphones will work with all detectors. Of course with my Lousy hearing I need max volume out of both machine and headphones.
