Don’t ya hate that..... totally unable to identify this so was hoping those on here could. Short story to lead into....
Dug this last Saturday just off the edge of recent sidewalk removal. Before sidewalk there was a boardwalk along same stretch. There once was a horse hitching rail here as well. What is now a vacant lot once held a hardware store and mortuary. Simple design, not magnetic, bends if a little force is used. Horse tack? Dress piece on bridle or halter? Jewelry? Hook piece similar to belt buckle but kinda light weight for that. No idea.
Horse guru advised not horse tack. He knows his stuff really well so moved on. Checked today with local funeral home, not medical or decorative with dressing the deceased. Hmmmm
Start to post on here and get phone call from funeral home. Lady that dresses the deceased advised it is a belt buckle, a womans dress buckle. Look at old turn of last century photos where the women always wore ground length dresses. The dress often had a cloth or light canvas belt around the waist. She estimates the most likely time period is 1880-1910 era.
This matches up to the history for the two stores
