A 1.25 hour hunt. Atypical for me. I can still do a short hunt and have fun and find some great loot. Last weekend marathon produced a lot of coins but nothing precious. Tonight I got a heavy silver ring that rang up on penny. I wondered why. As I polished it up, I saw it also contained a little gold. Question answered. It is Sterling and 10K. I think it's my new favorite ring or at very least my favorite of 2009. It was real deep and in gravel so it is pretty beat up in places. I am also finding a lot of Boyscout Bolos this year. Why? I am digging a lot more C sized targets. I can take a few screw caps as long as I get one of these or a nice big coin spill every so often.

Rain never materialized so I could have been out all day. A marathon hunt tomorrow is a real possibility even though it's getting dry like it's August.

Nice ring find !!

When are you going to start detecting? It can't still be winter up there.

Have been detecting for a while and found some interesting items .
Not much for posting and putting photos of my items on display !
Talking about winter its going down to - 1 and frost tonight .
Snow predicted north of here:thumbdown:
I rather enjoy seeing all the great stuff that you find and display
More interesting than what I find ,although one of these days I will show my goodies

Nice finds bud. I have a few of those combo rings - gold & silver. Most all of them that are combined with silver seem to be 10 KT. I do have a Golden Anniversary ring that is silver layered with a chain of gold that is higher karat. I've got a trainload of those Boyscout kerchief slides.

I just got to my tecting spot yesteday evening when I seen some ominous dark clouds looming on the southwestern horizon so I hightailed it back home to batten down the hatches and just made it as the wind hit. We came within a hair of having a tornado and they ain't supposed to have those here. THey had one small one in 1973 that went across the north end of town ( where I was working remodeling a house ) that done minor damage here but jumped the Columbia River and took out a school and department store in Vancouver, Washington.

I am too. I've found five very small gold items this year. One decent ring and everything else has been gram sized pieces of 10k. Even knowing that a nice gold find will come with patience doesn't help sometimes.

Chris

It was hard to get a test on that gold because it is both small and recessed.

An F1 tornado went right over our house in upstate NY when I was a tot and didn't do too much damage to most homes but it did knock down every single weeping willow tree in the area. I guess they have shallow roots. We kids had a whole summer of building forts in fallen trees because it took so long to clean up that many fallen trees.

Alright!:thumbup:WTG!:clapping:Congrats on the ring!:please:Not a bad clad haul either, buddy! Cool Boyscout Bolo! Yeah, I alwys dig "C" size targets. You never know what you might get 'til you dig it up!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

That ring is a good find.

It kinda looks like a hand made type of ring.

If I were you I would take full advantage of all those downed tress and at least detect as many as I could especially the largest ones!

Ya' never know what might be hiding under those roots!

I'm beginning to think it's handmade too. There are mold marks. I think the dent in the gold ball is from gravel.
