independent detectortests from Holland

I think that the number after the detecter refers to the mode it is set at and different coils. (1) relic. (2) coin, (3) discrimination, (4) standard coil, (5) +30 cm coil. .....Get Dirty....Dirty Don.....

I thought the way the Ace works it didn't matter what mode you were in as far as depth goes.

Bear in mind that the test dont mean a lot to me. Some very good detectors had bad results. It also has to do with the soil type I guess. The same testers were very impressed how the ace 250 with the large coil performed.

Eric.

I see the chart uses a red X and a green V. What is the difference?

So the red X means it didn't register? Poppycock.

I've read a ton of these so-called independent tests from foreign countries and as a beeper swinger of 44 years and a field tester of over 15 years you can take these tests with a grain of salt - and never base your purchase of a detector on results of these tests. No detector made performs the same for every user in every part of the world. There are just to many variables. The only performance test that counts is the one you make with your detector, with your operating expertise, in your particular area with your soil conditions.

Hi John,

I had nothing to do with the tests, but I know the people, and thought it would be fun to show them on the forums. Please take it with a grain of salt as I know that ood machines did not do well in the test. I hope the cx will arrive this week. I can't wait to try it on my Roman site!

Thanks for your response John.

Best regards, Eric.

i actually find this test hard to believe i"v got shocking soil in some of the parks i hunt & still get good depth with the ACE250 & i cant believe the ACE would miss a silver ring at 3.94 & hit a musket ball at 5.91 just dosin"t add up i"v found silver is the deepest hitting target it just seems to jump out of the ground & lead is quite hard to find.
i"v got & use a minelab explorer ll & had a explorer xs a few years back and i"v found the ACE in all metal & high sensitivity can almost get the same depth about 1 inch off i think the only reason the explorer finds more coins is it"s got a double d coil & covers more deep ground per sweep of the coil & in some parks the ACE can get deeper as the exp ll just cant cope with the mineralisation/mass of small iron targets.
i know i"m going to get all sorts of @#!%$ for saying this but this is my personal experience in my parks with my style of hunting. i love both detectors & use them regularly & no i"m not being bias i just cant understand why the ACE can miss all but one of the targets & the explorer can hit all the targets (maybe inexperienced users) (or just trying to sell more expensive detectors) ??????????.
one day i"m going to take both the ACE & the EXPLORER out together & do some serious testing :geek:

Hi all,

I'm a member of the test team that does tests on a test track in Belgium. As Bill says experience, swing technique and the place you hunt are more important then the depth of your detector. But when you buy a new detector the dealer often shows only an air test. This test is completely useless, because most of the hunters find the stuff in the ground and not in the air. If you read all the manuals and flyers every md company claims te sell the best, deepest, most sensitive detector. And at the end if you ask 10 experienced hunters what to choose you get 10 different stories. We know these tests cover just a small area, but at least this is some independant information.

Last saturday we tested about 25 detectors in a different area(sandy ground) and the ACE 250 with the large coil performed very well. The results will be on the site soon.

I usually base my test on the comments made by the people on the forums.
Have bought most of my detectors from the comments and comparisons of these detector owners.:twodetecting:

I find it hard to believe that the Ace 250 didn't do better. I have bad soil and the Ace can find most things up to 7". I get copper cents all the time at 7" and silver just as deep. What ever your quality control is, I am sure it would be the same for all the detectors. So if I find your results a little on the negative side, It would be negative for all.

Keep testing and keep us informed.
What is quality lead?

I don't know why I would ask, but I didn't see a test on the F-70.

Good luck with that CX Eric. It should reward you well.. Hope you find a ton of really old goodies and we'd love to see what you turn up. Lotsa luck bud.
