Induction Balancing Coils

Any help on what is necessary to make a Induction balance coil? I have made PI coils, but they are not balanced. Does the IB coil have to be at resonant frequency to work? I want to make a DD coil for my GMVSAT. I have opened up the standard coil that comes with it and did all the measurements. What would be needed to construct a IB coil. Thanks for any help. Rick S
