There is a little confusion here I think.
The Whites TDI is a true discriminator, even though it has a pulse delay. Whites does have a PI water detector that has a pulse delay also. That one is based on the Surfmaster circuit they have.
The Garrett utilized the pulse delay control, (Garrett calls it a different name), to cut back on targets of lower conductivity, thus cutting out certain targets. It does have multi tone to help ID targets, and they are some that have mastered it good enough to use it for coin hunting. It's just not to the degree the Whites TDI or the Goldscan 5 is. I do believe one can learn to get rid of most nails with it.
