Is there a way to limit the earshattering signals while maintaining normal volume on faint signals? I read specs of one manufacturer that indicated they would provide this "limiter" as a feature of their phones for only a few dollars over their regular price. This suggests to me that the modification must be fairly simple.

I would try that product, but I have a sizeable investment in phones already and too, they are not availible until late this year. Perhaps there is a company you folks may know of?????

On my Infinium's underwater phones, I cut out rubber gaskets that fit perfectly and tight in the ear cup.

The gaskets are thin enough that I can add or remove several to get the perfect volume for each ear.

I find the Infinium land phones volume control to work quite well. Some hunters don't like the stock ones and purchased the cable adapter from Garrett (allows you to use after market phones).

I appreciate your prompt response to my question. Many thanks.I was expecting a high tech solution to the ear shattering problem such as a capacitor in series on the line into the headset?? (I have just enough electronics knowledge to be dangerous) It's great to be offered a couple of low tech solutions!!!

Are you still able to hear those very low signals tho? That seems to be the key to finding the "GOOD STUFF".

I could come up with something too as I have experience as an electronics technician. However, I used this rubber gasket material from Home Depot located in the flooring section.

I cut several pieces and added them to each side of the phone until I was comfortable with the volume at the loudest point (each ear).

Now when the machine is turned on, the volume is preset perfectly for each ear and no adjustments are necessary.

I can still hear all the low signals and it works very well.

I also did this to my water phones on my White's BHID.
