The waterproof Goldquest Aquasearch by Eric Foster is made by the same person who designed the Whites TDI, and may also be able to use Minelab PI coils with the proper connector.

Infinium LS vs Goldquest Aquasearch
Does anyone know how they compare in performance(not price and water depth) on both, saltwater highly mineralized beaches(like Hawaii) and for gold nuggets on goldfields ?? Thanks!

P.S. I could also throw in the JW Fishers Pulse 8X in that comparison if anyone knows about this machine too.

David, I used the Infinium 2 years ago, and am now learning the Aquasearch, both used on the same Southern California beaches.....I would still have the Infinium if LAX was farther away from the beaches I hunt....the machine was to sensitive to radars and transponders on the commercial aircraft.....when no planes were aloft, the machine was quiet and deadly......I liked the 2 tone audio; you could discriminate certain targets by ear fairly well after a time......used an Anderson Shaft (a must) which eliminated the nightmarish stock shaft......improved the audio by using a good set of headphones via a pigtail I made.......used the 8" mono and the 14" X 10" mono; in water use the 8"...great coil....the 14" X 10" is good for open wet beach......the Infinium likes mineralization, but is not as sensitive as the Aquasearch on gold targets, and is generally a little noisier........the Aquasearch is lighter and easier to use.......in the goldfields, the Aquasearch would not fare well without a ground balance circuit....the Infinium is very quiet in highly mineralized ground, but not as sensitive to small gold nuggets as a Minelab PI or possibly even a TDI (which I am also learning how to operate)....the Infinium is respectable at finding larger gold at depth.....

Thank you very much for that report! The Aquasearch is lighter and more sensitive to small gold but no GB for goldfelds use, you said. The Infinium is better on the goldfields but not as good on small gold.

Yes I have heard the TDI(& Minelab PI's) is more sensitive to small gold than the Infinium, but the Infinium Mono coils help. Yes the TDI is more immune to EMI interference than both the Infinium and Minelab PI's, with both DD and Mono coils. The waterproofing of the Infinium is nice.
