I'm curious as to how many of the Garrett guys and gals here use the Infinium?

The reason I ask is because I recently traded my Minelab for an Infinium and am currently waiting for it to arrive in the mail. Some might think I'm crazy but I was on my second Sovereign and needed a change. Also, I have never met a Garrett owner that didn't like and do good with their machine.

I can't find alot of info from users of this machine in the web and not everyone on the forums state the type of detector they use, in their posts. So, I figured if I could find out the names of the Infinium users on this forum, I could better satisfy my craving to see Infinium finds. Doesn't everyone like to see the finds made with a detector that is the same as their own?:detecting:

Oh, I forgot to mention that this is my first Garrett machine and also the first PI that I have ever had, so I might be asking alot of questions about it. Please bear with me.:unsure:

Also go to search here in the findmall amd type Infinium....you will find hundreds of post about the Infinium. You will learn alot from these 2 sources. I bought a used Infinium but unfortunatly it wasent working right so got a refund but I will get a new one after xmas. But it is a very well built professional machine. Take your time to learn it, for it is not like a VLF detector.

Just Google Garrett Infinium LS, snoop around and you will find the Infinium Forum. Findmall has a blocking system in effect which won't allow you to post to some other forums directly.

Just a quick heads-up with the infinium. I used mine this year and have the best year ever for gold rings. It has a learning curve to it, and people new to metal detecting have a hard time learning it, as it is totally different then any other machine available. It was engineered to get gold in highly mineralized areas, and seems to also do well on regularity hunted beaches and hunted out beaches. It does go very deep! The above forum has lots of excellent tips and suggestions to get the most out of the Infinium. Most questions will be answered quickly.

Good luck with your Infinium. I hope you have as much (or more) success with yours as I have.

No bottlebum I do not, at this time its the Sea Hunter Mark II and like it very much. I am going to see what the have around April 2008, if it's still the same line then Infinium it is.

Not a bad idea holding out to see if something new comes along.
 
One thing to remember is the Infinium is a super sensitive detector (more sensitive than other PI units) and requires research, knowledge and practice to get the settings correct for different situations. Once you have this machine setup correctly, it's lethal on the deep targets!!! I can't stress enough about reading up and practice to really learn what the machine is telling you. There's a bunch of experts on the P2P forum that can really help reduce the learning curve with it. If an older Infinium is purchased, you should be aware that the machines have received updates since the first generation bunch were released. An older machine might be in need of the updates and these made it more stable and allowed it to work correctly with the mono-coils. If you think you need this information, just contact Garrett and provide the serial number to see if everything is up to date. On another note to your question, yes I do own and I'm very happy with the Infinium!!!

I purchased the Infinium to add to my water hunting arsenal as the machine is fantastic in the water at the beach! I also plan on doing some relic hunting , diving (just got diving gear) with some gold country hunting with the Infinium as this is where the machine really shines. I own other detectors for different hunting situations as no one machine can do it all. This past summer I bought an XL-Pro (still learning it) for quick hunting and coin shooting with all around land use. I also have a BHID VLF water machine and a Bounty Hunter for my hunts too. The great thing is the Infinium does have many different coils available for various situations. Another hunter just recently posted using the 3x7" DD coil out in the woods and he got a couple of nice finds with that setup. Hope this helps and HH!!!
 
It does help. I was thinking the 3x7 coil might help in the persuit of coins with the Infinium.
I do plan on making an honest effort to coin hunt with the machine. By golly, i'll make it find coins!
