Hey everyone...can someone recommend a good quality set of headphones for the Explorer specifically!? I have the adaptor stand, so the plug size isn't an issue. I'm looking for something with 150 ohm impedance....and comfortable. Thanks in advance.

I use the standard Koss headphones. I have been looking into getting earbuds because the headphones are too hot in the summer. I have found Sony Fontopia earbuds ($39.99) and Etymotic earbuds ($119.00) I will more than likely go with the Sony's because they are cheaper.Good luck HH

really love the overall product......though I have had to send them in for repair......they make a pair called No Down Time and they are worth the extra money....email me for more info............there are 2 other pairs I can recommmend. johny mc.

I think I'm going to go with the Gray Ghost Ulitmates!?

I use the "Nugget Buster" model because from what I understand the Ghosts have limiters built in. The Explorer has a limiter, the Nugget busters are ghosts without the limiter circuit.
The limiter in the Grey Ghosts consists of a resistor in the ear cup, simple to remove, but mods would void the warranty.

Hi
I use the grey ghost, bought them from Johny Mc. Great quality and service. Been very happy with the grey ghost, comfortable and not to hot. Am still thinking about the Black widow tho cause my hearing aint what it used to be. HH Ken

Ultimates is what I have been using, they do a very good job.

About any of the name brands people have mentioned here work fine (Gray Ghost, Killer Bs, Timberwolf, etc). You can't really go wrong with any good quality headphone. Also the Ratphones are pretty good. If you can, try some different ones out, it's really hard to say that a given phone is the "best" as they are different on different machines and we all hear a bit differently.

I've also used the G.G. Ultimates for years. So far they've worked great. As you can probably guess any of the larger sound deadening headphones, such as the G.G. and other top brands, can get a little hot and heavy in really hot , humid weather. However, it is something you have to live with to get the good finds.
There are times when I'm just out for enjoyment (not overly serious hunting) that I'll use a ligtweight set of Sony behind-the-head headphones in this kind of weather. Can also use a full brim hat to block out the sun with this setup. Of course the light weights don't work that well in all environments, such as, at noisy locations like most beaches, etc.
The G.G. Ultimates have held up much better than many other phones I've used over the years.
