I have been detecting since I was a little kid, use and sell detectors. I try to share as much as I know so I'm leaving an outstanding offer to anyone who would like to hunt in the Lehigh Valley for info on the depth they are getting with the MXT. I've used and still use white's, minelabs, fishers but ... this one is so new and I'm going to be trying it on my own yet however I love to compare notes. I'll share what I get as I go along. So could you MXT vets as young or old as you may be please give some info on some finds and how deep. Whatever info is appreciated as far as ground, angles, strong or weak target id,etc.
Its interesting that no one detector is my favorite. I use an XS and have found some nice deep stuff, yet have found stuff with the White's just as deep.
Thanks is advance.

for just over a year now. I live in the State College area and have managed to find some older areas with some history to hunt, but am still looking for one of those "mother lode" sites.
My ground is relatively mild, with most readings in the 30's-40's; I have some areas I've found the ground up into the low 60's. So far the finds have been a lot of relics, a small handful of old coins (the oldest being an 1804 2-reale and an 1818 large cent). The coins have all been in the 4"-6" range, with the larger relics down to 10"-12" inches.
I'm currently using the stock 950, the 4x6 DD and the 5.3 Eclipse coils with good results. I am considering a larger coil (mostly for ground coverage) for some of the large, open areas I have to search, although I wouldn't mind the extra depth. I'm still trying to decide on whether I want to go with the HotShot concentric or an Excellerator DD coil.

a copper memorial penny at 7-8" with the stock coil. Gain at 10+ disc at nail reject in C/J mode and it was a very diggable whisper signal.

To date my deepest coin in dirt has been 2 8 1/2 -9 inch dimes using the 14 inch excelerator coil. With the stock coil I got a few nickels at 8 inches. With the 5 inch excelerator I have got a 6 inch wheat penny. At VA. beach I got coins 10-12 inches deep in the dry sand. I found a folded up piece of metal the other day that was 21 inches deep, it was about the size of 2 quarters.I was using the 14 inch ex. coil. I know some other machines will get deeper than the mxt. But for the money it is hard to beat. The ex. coils do better in relic mode using very little disc. I like coin mode with the stock coil for areas with little trash, the whites 4x6 is a good coil for heavy trash and the 5 inch excelerator is the best small coil for trash.

I just got an MXT and have only used it for 15mins so I cant comment on the performance yet, but I was thinking of a bigger coil for the beach and clean areas. Was the 9" coin a strong sound? Seems to me the stock coil should give near that depth.

Yes the 9 inch dime gave a good beep, I use gray ghost phones and had the volume turned down 2 clicks. My deepest dime with the stock coil was a 1918 merc at 7 inches, gave a decent beep. I am going to Atlantic City , New Jersey the week of March 20 for the whole week. I am planning on trying the big coil out up there, went there last year and had a fisher 1225x and found a 1903 V nickel and a 1934 merc dime. The area they came from is etched in my mind and I will go over it good with the mxt and big coil. I have not done a great deal of testing on the 14 inch coil, I did alot of air testing and it will get 2 inches more on all targets. I just notice I seem to find deeper coins with it than I do with the stock coil. The 14 inch is a DD coil and will suprise you in trash and you don't have to crank the gain wide open to get good depth. As I posted earlier I planted a few coins not quite a year ago then lost where I planted them and with the stock coil gain wide open I could not find them. Now I took the 14 inch coil with gain at 8 and located and remarked the coins which are at a measured 7 inches and can not get the stock coil to respond on them. Personally For looking schools or parks and areas not slam full of trash I have no need for the stock coil. The 14 has better coverage runs smoother and gets deeper and that about sums it up, now for super trashy areas you need a mini coil and I prefer the 5 inch excelerator. With them 2 coils and the mxt a man will be sucessfull anywhere !!
