Initial evaluation of the Hawkeye ...

Ok folks, my first day out with the Hawkeye on a detecting site! here's my first impressions:
.303 cartridge case: came in at a solid 63 on the id number, bar graph reading under the bronze heading.
Steel washer: a solid 95 id number, bar graph reading, silver/copper/brass.
Shotgun cap: 50-60, bronze/lead.
Lead musket ball: solid 62, bronze/lead.
Chrome plated steel key: 60-76, erratic graph.
Small silver button: 60-ish, erratic graph.
.22 lead bullet: Low id numbers, but registering in the lead portion of the graph.
Pewter button: erratic graph and numbers.
1933 silver sixpence: 60-90, and registering as medium silver.
JOY UNCONFINED! small iron targets gave no audio response, but came up on the visual id with a number of 0 (iron) and a bar graph reading firmly in the iron bracket on the display. Larger iron targets DID give an audio response, but a quick look at the display confirmed it was an iron target. I only dug one iron target (large) that was giving an erratic id number, and the graph was 'smeared' I dug it anyway, just to confirm that it WAS iron ... sure enough, it was!
One thing I would point out is, someone found a 'cut half hammered penny'. I run it over my coil, and the bar graph was reading iron, but the id number was a SOLID 7! which is a big thumbs up to dig it! (so bear that in mind)! my settings today were: sensitivity @ 10 Discrim @ 0 and Threshold @ about 11 '0' clock.
My first impressions of the Hawkeye? decent depth, considering the 'dust-bowl' of a field we had today, and the iron rejection was very pleasing, on a par with my SS2 easily! my faith in detecting has been restored!
Pictures of the finds mentioned are shown, starting from top left and working left to right!

the hawkeye is a european machine i assume. Just wondering what machine it compares to on the north american market? the deleon?
sounds like a great tid machine, congrats and hope you get lots of finds.

Deleon, with a light switch added and Laser in place of Tesoro, the printed id's doubled [ top and bottom of screen ] and the top left logo changed. I wonder if it is any different? Do you know?

Jerry, as you have probably seen already, Chuck in Florida has saved me a job and posted a pic of the Hawkeye! (thanks Chuck)!
Chuck & Scott.F: Yep, the Hawkeye IS for the European market, and going by what you say chuck, it's comparable to the Tesoro Deleon ... we don't have the Deleon over here in the UK, so I go with what you said about the physical appearance comparisons! I don't know what circuit board is in the Deleon, but I know the Hawkeye is using the same board as the Cortes Hope this helps, and HH to you all. charlie(UK)
