I have a few spots here in Goldsboro that I have been pounding lately. There was quite a bit of trash, so I set disc to anywhere from 50 to max, because time was precious and short. I found a few coins and brass and low and behold, a CS buckle shows up (Presently, a Treasurenet Banner find). Well, I have not found a CW button in ages. I kind of got accustomed to having my disc at 15 and relying on my numbers too much, usually only digging stuff in the upper 50's and above. Well, I went to a buddy's home and he showed me just a ton of CW artifacts that he found over the years. We talked about discrimination a lot. I decided that I am just plain going to have to dig more to find the really good stuff ( although the CS buckle came in at 83). I went back to the area that I have pounded the past month, disc at 0 and sens at 75 (normally, I would keep it at about 50 because of EMI). It was as though I was detecting virgin ground. I keep the mode in 2F most all the time. I found that the iron just makes grunts. Good signals that give pretty much decent signals from both directions, I dig. Since doing this, I have dug a lot of junk, yet, I have found 2 eagle buttons, a Dragoon eagle and Connecticut State Seal in the same ground I had been hunting. Numerous other interesting items that I had just passed over with high disc were found, and many of them good. So, lesson learned. I must dig much more, as high sensitivity as EMI will allow, 2F, disc 0. One thing that takes getting used to is the scattery signals that you just have to ignore. I used a White's Spectrum for close to 20 years before the F-75 LTD, so that has taken some getting used to. I think I am now fully adjusted. The F-75 has blown me away with it's sensitivity to small items. One person told me to try All Metal and I would be amazed at what I will find. I may try that. I have much area to search in the vicinity of where I found the CS buckle, and it is quite apparent that this area was a Union camp, as practically all of Goldsboro was after the Battle of Bentonville, with like 110,000 encamped all around the city. Anyway, just wanted to share this info. Thanks, BP
