Iron falsing

If you have your disc setting at 22 and sensitivity at 99 and threshold at 9 plus sounds set at 4 will any high falsing from iron that is discriminated out still give you the high that you get when iron is not discriminated out. It would seem to me it would because the false high from iron is in the higher frequencies. Of course I could test that by detecting the iron that is giving me a high false and then disc it out and sweep it and see if it works. I seem to get a lot of high chirps when I disc out iron at a 22 disc setting and wonder if that is what I am hearing on my F70

Coinseeker with those settings you are going to have a lot of noise. Sometimes running high sensitivity isn't better. With the threshold on +9 you are picking up even the smallest pieces of iron and overload on shallow targets.
Just saying if you run sensitivity at just below a lot of chatter and threshold down you will have a lot less chatter and chirps. Large iron targets usually come up in the 90's.
I run around 60-80 sensitivity. Usually run threshold around -3 to -6. Nice and quiet detector and still finding coins in the 6" range.
Most of my coins are in the 1"-4" range. To run with all that noise for a coin or 2 every once and a while isn't fun for me. All the noise tires me out. Of course I am an old guy out there for the fun of it.

Thanks for your response Zeekeys. I have found that by lowering the threshold to minus three you have a considerable loss of depth on my F70. By lowering the sensitivity I do not lose depth as much. This with the discrimination set at 22 gives me a pretty quiet machine that gives me confidence of not missing deep coins. I am getting up there in age also. I will be 79 in April. I will be detecting until my legs give out. Happy hunting

79!!! That is great. Hope you have many more good years of coin hunting... That is the way I think also. I will go on detecting as long as possible. Being retired for some years, my wife loves it when I go detecting. She also enjoys the finds I come home with. She helps me sort out the coins when I am done tumbling. She even looks for the coins that are earlier than 1964. She also tells me what is good in jewelry and what isn't. She is pretty good at that. Thanks for looking and Happy Trails....Z
