Iron - filled pastures

mossy99

New member
New to the Deus and been concentrating using factory settings. My permission is mainly pastures, heavily contaminated with fence staples, nails and general iron trash. Need to know from an experienced Deus user either the best preset or another set of figures I can enter to be my regular entry as no. 11. Yes, I know I can experiment myself but would prefer to pick the brains of an experienced owner. [ Saves my digging time ! ] Thanks in advance .:clapping: Mossy99.

I would put it in gm power or deus fast and run it that way while you get used to the tones etc. Dig it all lol. Now how I would hunt it would be in my full tones program, reactivity 2, silence -1, 0 disc

Hey there. If there's a ton of iron, it can be overwhelming, so you want to keep the machine quiet, fast, and stable. Don't worry too much about super depth, but concentrate on plucking signals from the junk. These are my settings that I use for heavy trash & iron.

Lets start with your disc, try 8 to knock out the tiny bits of junk and most nails. Run 2 tones, you'll get a grunt for iron and a good tone for everything else. That will save your sanity.

Now your sens, start on 90, and TX at 3, but you can run it on 2 if its too chatty. You can increase the sens from there as long as the machine is stable. Back off when you hear the chatter.

Reactivity on 3, silencer on -1. Keeps the machine quick and still gets above average depth.

Iron volume 1, because you don't want to hear it. It will still make a faint grunt in the background.

Freq. 17.6

Audio response 5, the good signals will scream at you.
Overload 0

Notch 97-99, this will knock out big, deep iron that often fools the machine.

I hope this helps. Save this one as your custom trashy program. Good luck with it. Let me know how you like it.

the only thing that i might change from The Wolf's suggestions is to lower reactivity to 1 at first and see how chatty it is, you will get much better depth than at 3. if 1 is too chatty try 2 and go slow in heavy areas...

Personally I would not use a high TX in iron.
Full tones
Disc 0
Silencer -1
Sensitivity 90
TX 1
Iron volume 0
Reactivity 3
Audio responce 3
Ground balance manual 90 unless the.mineralisation meter us showing a positive reading.

Lower your power to about 40 - 50 and use a reactivity of about 3 you will get a lot of clipped tones

Don't be afraid to bump the reactivity to 4 or 5, I move it there a lot in the nail beds and do well, downside is the high tone will be very "short", meaning it will come and go quickly.

Try three for a bit because it will chop the sound and sound bad kind of...just slow down a bit when you get a tone that you may want to dig but on a three and four reactivity you do have to swing slower

Wow... bumping React above 1 which is faster than any other machine will
decrease depth by a hefty percent...and in Bootcamp I was taught at 3 you
will lose about 50% of your depth potential... be careful there!
also zero Disc disables the Horseshoe function... and as they explained in
Bootcamp the Deus was designed to run with Disc up to 10 with no
loss in depth or sensitivity...
I used to run mine that way before bootcamp but not anymore

I agree that none of the Stock programs are worth diddly here in the States
you won't find a dime past 6-8 inches with any of them...

I just buried a dime in the yard at 11"and modified the Relic Program
till it was making sweet music in my goto frequencies 8k and 12k
18k is more for small gold and 4k struggles with EMI and the 4k sister
program will ferret out those bottle caps most of the time, they were a pain
till I added it... not much to be done for the pop tops tho, just learn to listen
but since a lot of gold rings come in the same area I will dig some of those
too... I've found about 7 gold rings and at least 700 pop tops but it was worth it!

a couple key settings are the ground notch to keep it running smooth and
quiet and as mentioned the Silencer though off can have a negative impact
on the tones so play with it.. the high notch 97-99 I like to use as well to
reduce the iron wrap around

It's best to do this for yourself as soil composition varies widely and someone
else's settings may not work well for you, besides you will learn a lot by playing
around with it...

Without question, hunting for relics in heavy nails and iron. 18 kHz is the top dog.
yes found that out yesterday, and hunted close to some high power lines with no trouble.. will try tx power to 1 next time.

Scott Clark has an excellent program that I use with just minor tweaks
he is a very experienced relic hunter and has proven it out with many hours
in the field:

http://www.detecting.us/

this is his website and his program is there ... under Field Guides - Workhorse Program
He is also on several of the FB pages including XP Deus-U.S. only
