Iron in the hole?? No Problem :wiggle:

This pic is for those who are wondering what the 11" coil can do in the iron. Running at 8K and reactivity at 3.

I like to leave the Deus menu open and ready for me to toggle the reactivity as I see fit.

Set a 0 and 1 all I heard was the iron and when I jumped to 2 I could tell their was something else there but by going to reactivity 3 I could hear a nice high tone.

I dug down 6" and found the large. chunk then the next and the next until finally the Deus was singing!!

The one comment many seem to like to point out is that sure the Deus is fast but when you bump up the reactivity you lose depth. True but if you learn to adjust it to the condition you have its perfect.

Most anytime you get into heavy trash you will not find anything very deep unless you take the time to remove the trash. A detector can't see thru it all everywhere.

When I am not hearing a lot I will slow my swing speed and if I hear more then I bump up the reactivity and listen for more sounds. That's how I determine where I want to set it.

I was running my sensitivity at 90 to 96 depending on where I was and the coil was very stable. Don't bother with pushing the sensitivity so high that it constantly chatters, too much chatter and you lose depth so be carful with it.

Im running a very similar program with 8KHZ and Reactivity of 3 and LOVE IT!!!:beers:

Went to literally the house next door last night (it's a rental recently vacated) where dad and I had hunted last year with the Fisher CZ6 with these settings and in 2 hours pulled about 60 coins from the roughly 35' X 50' front yard!!! I couldn't believe so many were still there!

Also tried out the sidewalk strip for a few minutes where I hunted earlier this year -At the time (January) I remember using Deus Fast and digging a lot of iron(Reactivity 2) @ 8KHZ. Well last night went back there with Reactivity 3 and managed to pull several more coins that were still hiding amongst the junk - nothing really old but simply changing reactivity on this machine will uncover a LOT MORE GOODIES!

It's good to see people getting out and hunting now that the weather is at least trying to moderate!

I mistyped the bit about Deus Fast being in Reactivity 2 - it was in fact at "3" however I was just getting started with it and was using the large 11 X 13 coil.

Just wait Jeff...if you keep hunting in Reac = 3 you will see enormous pieces of iron in or near the hole but Deus will sniff out that good target. While hunting the old roller coaster area I don't know how many large steel nuts, bolts, and washers (golf-ball sized nuts and 10" long bolts with 2" washers) I pulled from the ground - only to resweep and hear a cleaner, crisper high tone - and out pops a Merc! Aluminum trash REALLY masks coins - recently found a 1964 Rosie under a silver-dollar-sized chunk of aluminum...I thought I was going after a zincoln but resweeping the hole I heard a sharp and shallow "86" in 8 kHz.

Happy hunting!

Yes and here in Pa I still get great depth with the 11" coil. So good that I start my hunts in 3 and then toggle back if the condition is good only to get even better depth.

This year is gonna be a good one. Three of us hunt together at times, an Etrac, a V3i and my Deus with us comparing deep signals.

Ok I for one would love to see a video on this! Great tips.

Jim

I might be able to do that this weekend. I did offer a video of something else to another member.

I will see what I can do for you Jim.
