Iron Mask.....confusion

I just bought a used Explorer XS and am a bit confused with the iron mask. Is it a basic discrimination pattern or does it work differently to this. In other words if you set up a discrim pattern with the left hand side of the screen rejected would it have the same effect as the iron mask screen. Hope this makes sense and isn't a daft question.

yes, its the same effect.. as a matter of fact I have a pattern saved mimicking iron mask at -14, that I load to also add some rejected stuff if I get into a bunch of pulltabs
