Is the excalibur overkill??

Just wanted to hear what other detectorists think? I've been out of the hunting for 3 or 4 years and am thinking about getting back into it. My only experience is with the White Spectrum XLT and the MXT so I'm wanting to "branch out" and try other brands. Most of the hunting I did was coinshooting in local parks and old homestead sites. Now that I've reached the point of vacationing in Florida for a few weeks out of the year, I'm considering buying an Excalibur for also wet beach work. Would most of you think that having an excalibur is "overkill" by detecting mainly in Missouri for 99% of the time? Hard rock, mineralization. I don't think I ever dug deeper than 9 inches for any of my earlier finds. Thanks!!!
