Is the Goldquest SS equal in performance to the Deepstar or better? If it is will this not make the Deepstar obsolete.

Hi George,
The Goldquest SS will not make the Deepstar obsolete as they are two rather different detectors, with different characteristics. The Deepstar can be considered as a mainstream PI transmitting relatively high current pulses at a moderate pulse rate, and running off a high capacity rechargeable battery. Its characteristics are, excellent depth over a wide range of object sizes and conductivities, and considerable flexibility in use with the controls available.
The Goldquest SS, however, is an offshoot from the mainstream PI technology, using much lower current pulses at a considerably higher rate and able to sample the return signal at earlier times to enhance the sensitivity to small, low conductivity targets. On these targets, it will outperform the Deepstar, but on medium/large targets the Deepstar will win out. Mainstream PI
