Is the Safari the right detector for me?

Long time lurker, first time poster. I have been detecting for a little over 7 months and have decided to upgrade to a nicer / more advanced machine. I have been using a Tesoro Cibola w/ gb mod and have some success with it. It is a coin magnet and I have found some wheat cents as well as a silver ring and a gun, yes a gun. It is pretty basic but I would like to jump into something a little more powerful and I would like to give one a try with a display. From what I have read, the Safari is very simple to use, accurate tid, deep and does well on beaches. Is there another option in this price range or should I look no further? I had looked hard at the Sovereign GT but no display or a readily accessable pinpoint switch (you would think the company would recognize that with all the shadetree mechanic mods being done to it they would update it to better suit the customer).

My hunting consists of looking for coins, jewelry and relics. Most of the areas I hit are trashy, either with Al or with Fe. I really haven't put much thought into prospecting with it, but it could be an option. I will be hunting the SW portion of Arizona (varying degrees of minerilization) for the most part but I will also like it for the beach. What do you think?

Mark,

The Safari is a good machine. The only down side is that if you have a problem,
you will have a real challenge getting it fixed.

You may want to look at Whites new MXT Pro 300. I just purchased one and love it!
Powerful detector and will do all you need and more
