Now and then I will be commenting on someones finds, and I get a pop up from the site stating '' possible hack attempt''. I then get bounced out of the system. And it usually includes my attaching an emoticon. Is this happening to you ?

Nope, but I don't use a ms web browser(use either opera or firefox). It's the wild west on the internet, update ur anti virus, scan ur puter for gremlins. Also be aware many computer games have key loggers(that can be corrupted)in them.

Dump the ms browser for sure, very unsecure. Firefox is the one I use, the others are lagging behind in features and security.

If your interested, here are a couple of links links:

Firefox Browser: Select your language and Operating System from their:
http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

CCleaner: It's free for Basic Cleaning and helps keeps things clean in your system:

:)

Yup, added Firefox (had it years ago then got another pooter) and going through it now. I use CCleaner and updated Norton anti. It was funny because the reply to this thread went through I.E. and was dumped as a hack attempt again. Let's see how this goes in fluffy tail.

Bingo ! Thanks guys. This is my first bookmark in F.F. What are the best 3-4 utilities or add ons for F.F. ?

WOT(web of trust) is good also, ghostry, flagfox, noscripts(allows a script setting for each web site), clear cache.

The Last Norton AV I used absolutely caused more problems than finding/fixing them. Very resource hungry and slowed things down as well. I actually had to download a special removal tool to get rid of it all and I'm glad I did (What a pain that was).

I use:
Viper Anti - Virus (very good program with little resources to run it).

And an Older version of Out Post Firewall. (very fussy program with other AVs installed but is compatible with Viper) and does a good job at Logging and Blocking hack attempts or call home Trojans you don't think you have on your computer. I found 3 Trojans when I ran the newly installed Viper AV. NAV didn't see any of them. Never again.

I don't use any FF add-ons myself UN but I hear some are quite good. I just wanted to bring the NAV stuff to your attention.

:)

I haven't seen that - another Firefox user. In addition to the previously mentioned add-ons, I like "Add Bookmark Here"(add bookmarks in folders), "Master Password", "Quickfox Notes"(good for MD research), "Personas Plus" (themes), "FireFTP" (I use for updating websites).

Actually the warden wasn't happy about F.F. so I D\L'd I.E. 10. I'll give that a run and see how she goes. Thanks for the help all. I am self taught on computers and can get around fairly well, but at a moderate level for sure.
