Ist time out with new EXII

It wasn't much time about 45 min while the sun was out, we have had about a week of on/off rain to get rid of the 18" of snow we got between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It topped out about 44 degree's and the detecting bug got the best of me and my detecting buddy. I went to a local park that we have just been pounded with MXT'S, DFX"S, EXII, Tesoros and my wife's Ace 250 which found her a 1874 IH this last summer in about the same area. I used the X-8 coil, X-1 and factory presets Quickstart smartfind with the sensitivity set to 20 semi-auto. I wish I had more time, I was just getting warmed-up as the temp was going down.
The EXII is so different than every other detector I have ever used, but the sounds are mellow and not irritating. I have a long way to go before I become proficient with it. But I am very encouraged and had a lot of fun. I hope the weather warms up enough to get some weekend time in.
Happy Hunting to all that can.

Hang in there Shawn, it'll come to you all at once when you find your first good target. I just ordered the EX-ll and it should be here by the end of the week or first of next. I hunted with the original EX-XS and still do and it took me a while to learn. If your doing it by yourself it takes longer than if one of your friends has one to help each other or have a friend that is proficient at it already. Not sure what I intend to find but like you I have a couple of spots that we have pounded with every machine we can think of including the top of the line Whites and also Minelab, P/S got the new II before the price increase and all the attachments for it also, probe and platypus to boot. On a good note, I can still remember the exact day everything came to me on the Explorer, I had hit a few silvers off and on but nothing to brag about. One day after lunch as I was experimenting with different settings from the Internet one of them worked for me and I was finding silver on almost every hit, two to a hole, ever see a kid in a candy store, that was me. I had people watching me all over so I packed up and left, called my buddy and he wanted to go out right away. We went the next morning and I started again, he couldn't even pick up the targets and I was still hitting 2 silvers to a hole, my partner was beside himself so I set him up and he finally got it. Good luck as it takes persistence and practice. We had even had a club hunt at this particular old park a couple of years prior.
