It warmed up, so I tried some new places

After starting out a 8F this morning....it eventually warmed up to the low 50's. With winter fast approaching, I decided to try a few "new" places on our farm this evening.

1st: the teepee rings
Sorry no pics(forgot the camera), but there isn't much to see anyway. The rings are now just under the surface. 20 years ago...you could still see them. Anyway, I have no idea how old they are and gave it a try. I put the detector in prospecting mode and hit it for half an hour. I found a bullet(.22?) and a tiny piece of wire.(no pics)

2nd: the Scotchpaul place
This is where a farm was from the early teens to the mid 50's. We now farm over the top of it. Dad remembers a barn, house, and maybe some other buildings when he was little and people still lived there. I remember when dad filled in the basement and the well...in the early 80's?? There are 3 depressions there. I assume that they are the house, barn, and well.
Typical farm junk. Lots of iron and miscellaneous stuff. I did find this cool number plate from a Paige-Detroit. They were made 1910-1932 and were hit hard by the Depresion. Eventually, their assets were sold to Kaiser-Frazer.
I sent an email to the ONE website I found about the Paige-Detroit Motor Company. I'll let you know if he can tell me anything.

3rd: the gravel pit
We have so much magnetite and black sand...that gold panning has crossed my mind(haven't tried). I ran the detector over the exposed layers...nothing but a GB of 14.

4th: Harms place
My Great-grandfather bought the place in 1914 and built the house that is still there today. I started under the clothesline and found a couple of buttons and a bra(?) buckle. I moved over to where the swing set used to be and found the clad dimes and pennies. Near the back door(kitchen door), I found the harmonica and old bottle cap with the letters CS. I found the wheats near the

Enjoy the warm up. I'm sure it won't last long up there. We're still enjoying days in the mid to upper 60's here in the Hoosier state but that ugly 4 letter word gets in the way of my detecting. Work! Ugh!

A quick update on the number plate.....

From Bill Roberts:
"The number plate is consistent with the Paige Model 6-46 passenger car. Paige made the six-cylinder 6-46 for the 1915 and 1916 model years. The plate would have been attached to the car frame under the removable driver

It is a shame that automobile ID tag isn't whole. Like that old ring

Nice recoveries! And don't give up on that ring being silver..............I've found more than one silver ring that had been "resized", using a silver based solder. Not being pure silver, the finish can "wear off" sooner on the inside of the ring than it might the outside. Regardless, congrats on the finds. HH Randy
