The last couple of times out with the F75 I have hit on several targets that give me a pretty good reading in disc mode but when switching to all metal pin point there is nothing there. Being I can't pin point anything I haven't dug anything, any ideas?

Thanks

Yup go back to the 1270 HEHEHE

Got me on that one,

Ron........... most likely it is a rusted away piece of iron. When in disc mode any unsure hit rounds up..so you get a higher reading. Many times all metal ( pinpoint) does not see that rust spot in the ground because it sees a larger footprint..and if you dig the spot disc doesn't see it once it is disturbed ground..

There is one other option. It is a really large target way down in the ground up to, and including underground pipes..

I have been doing a little reading on detecting and they were not talking about the F75 but another brand and they say HOT ROCKS can disappear when going from disc to all metal. Any thoughts on that?

oh yea it happens .......... It depends too on how far down the disc actually is effective.

I go with the rust spots. I've had that happen several times...and not just with my F 75. Those disappearing targets can cause some mighty deep holes. HH jim tn

I've experienced what Elton is talking about. It sounds great until you stab or try to get a good pinpoint.
Then it either changes reading or "floats away". It can be frustrating. Especially those solid repeatables in the 22-26 range. Your hoping for some gold , or ready to clean up a tab, and the signal disappears.

Ive had that happen with my F70 and found that most times I'm between a piece of non ferrous metal, and iron. for some reason it will give the signal between them. If i use my
pistol probe and make a spiral around the beep area i usually see two or more targets,or if I'm in all metal with the detector. Sometimes using all metal mode if i come in from
other directions i can pick out the different targets. usually aluminum, can slaw,or something of that nature. maybe something to check next time. Hope this helps..
