It's Barber time!

One of my goals this year was to find my first Barber quarter, and today was the day!! A 1907 O, to be exact. I gave the Lord a big thanks for this one!

The coin read +37/38 on my screen in coin mode and was somewhat of a choppy signal. It was down about 6" and unfortunately my lazy digging finally caught up with me and I scratched the back. But it's not like I would sell it or anything, especially since it was my first Barber quarter.

HH,

Ray

Shouldn't the Safari get better than choppy on only 6" deep dime....????

Sorry I thought it was dime I see it's a quarter in pictiure

Gees Ray nice detecting again.
Thanks El for your questions.
I dug 5 dimes yesterday and one of the dimes gave a signal on one way only with a little squeak, but reading was 37. I dug the sun of a gun and it was a four scoop dig. It was a deep dime. I don't know about you guys but every dig seems to have its own characteristics. You kind of have to trust the detector. Is anyone else experiencing this??? Z

Welcome to my world Ray I have had a few scratched coins done by old dead eye here. One of the confusing things about scratching coins is I never seem to scratch those half eaten, sand encrusted pennies. Oh, please don't mention anything about bent rings. Old dead eye seems to dig up those guys too:detecting:...... Z

Ahhh... Targets that we have hit!!!

Last year at a DIV hunt I was using a friend's machine (F75) and got an incredible signal. I pinpointed the target and started digging. Every time I re-checked the hole it seemed that the target had moved further to the left! I finally had a hole about two and a half feet across and more than a foot deep and still no target!!! I pinpointed again and the machine told me it was in the left wall of the ever increasing hole. Since two of my buddies had already hit relics that day (a CS tongue and an Eagle coat button), and I had nicked two bullets already, I decided to err on the side of caution and sunk my shovel about eight inches to the left of where the pinpoint showed the target, and hit a Federal brass epaulette smack in the middle!!!!!

Here is the reassembled epaulette:

Everytime I take the Safari out, I love it more and more... Areas to hunt relics are grown up and I have started hunting a few ole homesite... Mercs and IH but no SL's..soon I hope..Again, Ray, great find..Richard
