It's important to talk to old timers!

I made a few friends and got a few places to hunt just by talking to people.

A while ago I went to a school to detect for lost coinage after a 4th of July celebration was held there. The place was new and it was the first year they had a celebration there so I didn't expect much.

THis old guy pulls up in a pickup trunk and we started talking about the town and places to hunt. He said the town was very old but much of the town was leveled and the dirt was moved. Where to? I asked. He said right where you are standing! So, turns out we were hunting old grounds aftger all!. If found an old ring. IT was too hot so we are going back this weekend.

Another old timer came out when we were detecting a vacant lot across the street. We started chatting and he mentioned that there was a store many years ago over there and a very old house over here and he knows the owner and no problems detecting either place including his yard. I'll bring him a six pack for appreciation.

Sometimes finding places to hunt is just a matter of asking!
