There ain't much detecting time left in 2008. Had a few nice days in a row so here are the past four hunts. Nothing spectacular but a lot of fun and a lot of clad and very little else.

Thursday. Site less than 1 mile from home. Heavily hunted by everybody within 50 miles. Best finds: Beat up metal baseball merit badge.

Friday. Site about 10 miles from home. Heavily hunted by me and as far as I can tell nobody else. Best find was two 10 cent coins from East Caribbean whatever. A foreign coin spill of sorts. Why anybody was carrying around a pocketful of these coins around here is beyond me.

Saturday. New site. 15 miles from home. Decided to detect until I got soaked with rain. It was exactly 2 hours. Check out the huge percentage of quarters. New site so I cherry picked it after a while. Most everything was deeper than 4 inches. Wet clay ground. I'll return soon or early next year. Best finds Cracker Jack ring and 41 quarters.

Today. Headed out to try to find someplace to site in my new rifle for deer season. Shot all morning. Finally got her tuned up. I love shooting almost as much as detecting. I rarely shoot a deer but if I get a shot at something good I take it. Stopped on the way home back to the site from Thursday. Tried a new corner of the park. Right toward the end of the hunt I hit a silver dime and 3 wheats back to back to back to back. As I said this site is extremely heavily hunted so this was very surprising to me. In fact it is my first ever silver coin there! The dime was down around 7 inches. Indicated size B and 5 inches which is fairly normal for deeper coins. 1950. The wheats were 44, 45, 53D.

Total is 251 coins. $26.02.

Trying to get to Philadelphia again later this week. Hopefully I'll detect a time or two down there.

Chris

Congrats on the clad findings. A good hunt..:detecting:

I like shooting, too! Hardly a day goes by I dont take a potshot out the back door. You pinecones... beware.

Those are some super hauls to end the season with. BUt take a cue from John (Edmonton) - he finds a way to detect, even in the Canadian winter.

Nice finds Chris. Good luck on the deer hunting. I just got back from Canada deer hunting, got a 7pt.136 lbs, and 8 pt 150 lbs.
