James bolts found by father and son using XP Deus!

Dad and I have been hunting this site for years, where part of a running battle took place on a wooded hill, not too far from where we live. On November the 13th of last year my dad went back out there by himself and located a spot that somehow was missed by other relic hunters, because this is a well known and documented battle site, he hadn't been there long when he dug his super nice James bolt! I went out to this site with him on December 7th, and guess what it was my turn, we both had found a highly sought after round from this area of the Civil War! Dad wrote an article that will be in American Digger Magazine, if anyone is interested in more detail of our story it should be in the May-June subscription of said magazine. Pictures from left to right me, my bolt, dad, his bolt.
Thanks for looking and happy hunting!

WOW!!
Awesome find!
Congrats

Super story and finds. Should be in the magazine

Awesome finds. A shell or Cannonball would be a definite cross off my bucket list. Hope to read more about it in the mag.

Wow! Those are rare. Just wondering what they rang up as on the Deus. I'm guessing loud and in the 90s. Congrats to you and your pops.

Sweet finds, love the rare Civil War stuff.:clapping:

Do you and your father send them off to someone to make them inert(non-explosive) or is this not an issue with this type of round?

They are solid shot, also known as a bolt, so they are nonexplosive.

Great finds you guys! Congrats!!

I'm curious about your relic hunting techniques. Obviously, these are enormous iron objects. You guys are finding them deep for sure... Are you using non-motion mode or running a normal progam?

The Deus does seem incredibly sensitive in non-motion. I was I following an old stone wall recently (in non-motion) hoping to find a cache. When the machine went wild.....I had to turn over a huge round rock and dig at least 10 inches below it.
Guess what I found.....
A dropped square nail.

Unbelievable.
