So i seem to be confinced that the 250 is the way to go. but does anyone have any good pointers on finding jewlery? when i'm wanting to find primarily rings and such what is the best way to go about it,,modes and disc,, and sens.

thanks Travis

I found my one and only gold ring (mans large 18kt wedding band) on coin mode, it rangup in the solid penny. But when I run in jewelry mode, it finds every piece of foil and pop tab out there (the places I hunt are filled with tons of garbage sad to say). So I only use the coin mode. But I miss-out on all of the gold the registers in other categories. I love my ace 250 and I recommend getting the "Sniper Coil" for trashy areas, and the "9X12 Coil" for beaches and fields. I only use my 9X12 coil, its great!!!

As for settings, you really need to see when you get out to your site. turn it on and turn you sensitivity all the way up. then swing the coil, if it goes crazy, then turn it down a notch, and repeat until its stable to go hunting.

I hope this helps. The Ace 250 is an awesome machine!!! Its a lot of machine for it price, you can't go wrong!!!

It is no secret that a piece of jewelry can ring out from iron to high coin. No matter what brand of machine. So the only way to get all the jewelry is the "beep dig" method. Maybe just disc out iron and dig all other beeps. The key is to go where jewelry is easily lost. I go to sand beaches, tot lots and sand volleyball courts. This way it's easy and fast to scoop up every beep.

You're going to have to dig some junk to get gold rings ( depending on composition and karat ) because that's the range many of them register in.

I"v found 10 bits of gold jewelry and 60 bits of silver jewelry with the ace 250. 9 came from tot lots and 1 from the beach i run the ace in all metal all the time sensitivity at 8 if i can without to much falsing and back it down as i get closer to the play equipment and dig all tones above iron. one nice 9k wedding band was bouncing between iron and foil about 7-8 inch down under the tan bark.
on the grass i dig bell tones only but still run in all metal i get alot of old coins and silver rings close to iron nails that i would have missed with iron notched out. i run sensitivity at 4-5 for new coins and 8 for old coins.
its a good idea to get a set of good headphones with volume control so you don't get a head ace from all those tones and that thay cover you ears for hearing those faint signals whilst pinpointing.
i mainly hunt for old silver and copper coins so thats why i don't have that much gold. hope this helps you out

I love my ACE 250 but think that the gold jewelry range is the hardest to work out. My air tests with 10k to 18k of various sizes all have trouble locking as one target. So if gold is what you are mainly after, you're going to have to did a lot of junk.
