Jewelry Target Id's

all iron

Member
I have noticed in my short time swinging a metal detector ( 7 mos) that jewelry will id at a constant number and visual ID, weather it be foil or aluminum.
It never seems to sway from one to the other.
I have dug my 7Th ring ( all very shallow ) 1-2 inches and i was wondering if the consistent visual id and numeric value were because they were so shallow

Would deeper rings have more of an erratic target value?

Any target that does not move numerically or Visually ... gets me excited!!!!!!!!!!:hot:

I presume you're referring to searches with your Teknetics Delta 4000?

I didn't think you've had the Delta that long. Have you used another brand/model in 7 months?

Foil is a category that registers over a numeric range usually lower than a US 5

Thanks Monte. YOU ARE GOOD!!
I haven't been swinging the delta for 7 mos. I started with the Alpha

What i was trying to ask is and maybe you answered it....
A pull tab will jump around on the meter but jewelry ( wedding bands) don't seem to / they stay constant no matter what category they fall into, at least in my short experiences.

Thanks
Again
I'm still excited about finding a ring today ( only a 10 min hunt )
Must have been in the right place at the right time

Quote........... from Monte......For now that's good. But in time you'll get more confident at 'calling' the 'dig-me' Iffy signals.

Monte Can you teach me that trick too ?? LOL............. All my iffy targets seem to be foil Hahahahahh Just teasing you a little Monte.."We know, you know the tricks"

I dig the crud out of iffy signals on my F75 LTD, and thus far 95% of them have been junk. I should know better then to dig them, but if their deep, I still go for them....usually they turn out to be old rusty nails, but I hope that someday one of them will be a deep silver....someday :)

That explains why the target readings you reported were only related to certain ID 'segments.' With the Delta and other up-line models you'll have the VDI number read-out and that will show some difference.
