Joey 5x10 coil "rivals stock coil for depth" ???

derick

New member
Hallo
I just bought 5x10 coiltek coil for my EXll.I read some great reviews for it.But,I tested my coil, and there are
no possibility going over 5" in the ground for small coin, with sensitivity 30-32.My stock coil is going two times
deeper.(sens 27)Quite good in trash, but absolutely no "rivals stock coil for depth".I look for test :
http://www.staffsmetaldetectors.co.uk/5_pence.htm and EXPLORER XS-F/W JOEY COIL 5 X 10 is going
10 inch deep for 5 pence!.What is wrong?Have somebody any experience?
Thanks for any answer.

I've owned/used both of those coils & while the Joey is a good coil---"there ain't no way" it rivals the stock coil (for depth)!

"5 pence is a small/ low conductivity coin -Made from nickel and is the same Conductivity as a cut half of a hammered penny".
I tried also medium coins and no way go deeper than 5-6 inch on my test polygon. My Joey goes only 50% deep of my stock coil.
It is OK???I

derick---I don't think there is anything wrong with your Joey coil if that is what you are asking.---It's just that it doesn't go as deep as the stock coil.----The Joey is great for working certain areas & trashy areas.---I think the deepest coin I've recovered with the Joey was a mercury dime (one of our U.S. silver dimes) at 6 inches.---I'm sure the joey would get dime size targets at that depth "all day long" and hit larger coins some deeper than that.----Hope this helps with what you are asking---I tried. :) --------Del

Thanks for reply
So,I think the Joey was not good choice for me.Maybe SEF 6x8 will go deeper.I am looking for any lighter and smaller
coil replacing stock,with good depth.

little joe is some coil that i would like to avoid in future, I had one,I found something with it, and luckily I sold it. its possible to do similar tricks with original coil and still have more possibility. check you sensitivity if you want max deepness- use manual sensitivity. if you use 1000 or 1050 take of coil cover you will save 68g.if i right remember good luck

I find the joey is very close to the stock coil. Its great at seperation, gets very good depth, and man its as light as you would want all the coils to be. Im actually suprised its not raved about more.

Thanks guys
to stasys:I always use manual sensitivity.I have 1050 coil so I take of cover, good idea.

to Neil:My stock coil is very sensitive with super depth, but no compare it toJoey. Some peoples like Joey for good depth.
For me 5-6 inch for quite big coin is not good for replacing stock.Any cheap secondhand Tesoro is going deeper.
No sense for me,used Joey, except trashy areas. It is my opinion, but maybe my coil is defective or not so sensitive.

yeah man, Id say somethings wrong with your coil if you can only get 5 or 6 inches out of it. Mine will double that depth at the beach, where I mainly hunt.

nothing wrong if 5-6inches ,coil is simple wire if its work without chatering its work ok. best to check how its deep air test with measure, but not looking at hole without measure.

Thanks guys for answers.
yesterday I clean my joey coil under cover (some silicon glue) and remove unknown dirty tape over coil and cover after previous owner.Today I tested it in good,(but wet) soil again. The results was 6 inch for smaller coin (17mm) and 8 inch (20cm) for bigger coin (22mm) nice signal.Fairly, I am happy.
