it's my favorite coil as well. i use it all the time. i've been trying for quite a while to find a used one for my buddy, and nobody wants to let go of one. hh.

let me say this. so far, it's fun, because it's deep, id's good, quiet (no falses or chatter), smooth swinging, light, great target separation and great coverage at the same time, being 5x10.
i compared it to the ML 8", side by side.
i like the joey.
the fun factor is definately there with the joey, and that means something to me. just my 3 cents.

for the express purpose of having a very light coil, just 13 ounces. In order to do that it was made with no epoxy which is what is used to waterproof coils.
It is water resistant. You can slop it around in the surf line with no ill effects.
