Hey John I have a question about a few coins. Is there coins in Canada by the names of toons and the other loons ?

The Loonie is the dollar coin. It has or had, a wild loon (bird) on it. Many Canadians didn't like the switch from paper dollars and called the coins "Loonies", as in lunatic government for stamping them. The toonie is just a play on the original loonie, it's two dollars, so it's a (two) nie. The coins last far longer than paper currency so it saves the government mint (and tax payers) $$$$$ by using the coins.

That's nice, it saves the government and taxpayers money. The important thing is it helps support Canada's dirt fishers! :crylol:

Love those high value coins when:detecting:
Wish they would loose more of them:rofl:

I'll take clad hunting much more seriously when/if we get a $5.00 coin.

what i thought was the wildest thing outa the switch to the toonie was people popping out the center them....people where freezing them and bashing them with a hammer just to see if they d stay together...man i even tried !!!....still hear rumors of the old five dollar coin thou. Out in sask iam counting the days to be digging in saskatoon we have a area that was old barricks that is on the edge of airport, war time houses from the old RCAF. there relocating the houese elsewhere ...never now what some of the vets might have dropped our buired ????
