HH,

Hey John just a quick question...

First I'd like to say thanks for all you bring to detecting... We all know there are so many that have added great content to these threads but in addition to appreciating everyone's input I have to say I've really enjoyed all your pics and basically the excitement you show for this old hobby I've wanted to get back into for so long...

Anyway my question is on batteries if that's not too far off topic... I'm ordering my AT Gold tomorrow and I know they say it runs on AA's, and we all know the name brands out there are pretty much the same... I've used rechargeable AA packs you can buy at most stores and they never seem to last as long power wise, or times they report being capable of being recharged... I'm just wondering are there any nice aftermarket, NiMh, NiCa, or Lithium battery packs\charger packages available for the AT Pro\Gold machines...? Seems I read the better the unit the more often a nice rechargeable battery type is provided...

Happy Sunday...

I use Powerex rechargeable AA, AAA and 9V batteries. I do not believe Garrett or any 3rd party makes a rechargeable "pack" for the AT Pro/Gold. You will have to buy the batteries and charger yourself...I use a Energizer smart charger, and an Owl 1 hour charger (for fast emergencies only, as it shortens the life of the batteries).

Happy Hunting and hope this helps,

GoGo...

Good stuff thanks I'll check them out... I was just out in the garage breaking up some rusty iron nodule material with occasional quarts veins that I brought home from the claim to check out... It's full of heat bubbles or pockets from when the volcanic fissures that fractured the country rock all around had some high heat running through them... We took some beautiful free gold out of these rusty old veins both by hand and by dredge throughout the half mile of seams long our creek... Not a lot but a few ounces worth and it's cool to see the iron ore and quartz still attached with no water wearing signs of travel smoothness... Anyway I busted open a rock from the seam a bit ago and darn if this really heavy but small 1/2" chunk fell out and I'm thinking there is some nice gold in it also with the iron oxide thayt partially encases it... We've done cleanups several times where odd colored black heavy stones are caught by our camel and later I've scraped the black like varnish or oxide of sorts only to find a nice small nugget beneath... Lots of galena lead chunks end up in the sluice too... Anyway thanks for the battery info back to the garage I go... Can't wait to order my AT Gold tomorrow...

Happy week
bnick

Here's a piece of the seam material I've been splitting and the small heavy piece of whatever that was free within one of the bubbles that cracked open... Also a cleaved piece of galena... Can't wait fort this Detector...

Ray Baby you got that right... You'll get no Canada bad mouthin' by me, plus they're pretty quiet bout all that gold up there, so I'm thinkin' there's some real treasure in those mountain's to the north...

Whatever yo do, do not pick on the Canadians! We may all need to move there is Obama gets re-elected....

Ray

Canada has the same political craziness as the states. Only here they are called Conservatives and NDP/Liberals.

((And no I'm not getting into a political argument, I'd rather avoid politicians altogether. They smell funny.))

In all seriousness, I think we are fortunate to have John as the moderator on this forum. He stepped up when it was really needed after Bill Revis passed away.

Thanks John.

There was a time, before he attained moderator status, when he would post in the Garrett forums every day. Hmmm ..
