Just thought I'd drop a line and let everyone know I decided to take the great advice found on this forum and bought myself an Ace 250 today. I'm hoping I have time to put it together and test it out later. Can't wait. Thanks for the advice

the ace can be put together in 5 minutes and you can be hunting right away, like Paul said above if you skip pulltabs you skip gold, possible deep Indian pennies and sometimes other goodies. I dig a LOT of iffy signals, never fully trust what the detector is telling you. If you rely only the ID screen too much you will miss a LOT of good targets, you HAVE to dig trash to get the goods, just part of the game!

Oh I'm gonna be digging everything I'm just saying hopefully not to many pull tabs. It's really raining here now, 30 mins before I get off work. Hopefully it will stop soon so I can fire up the BEAST.

Hi there, newbie here too, my ACE 250 will hopefully be arriving on thursday. I do have some experience with a discovery 1100(borrowed), my question is if you set it to coin mode will you still find objects such as rings and bracelets. My not to good logic tells me there is gold and silver jewelry and some coins are gold and/or silver too, if I had to guess I would say coin mode is tuned in to find nickel?

You'll find everything in "coin mode" including rings of all types. Stick with that mode until you learn the detector and keep your sensitivity at four bars.
