New Minelab E-Trac selling for $1075 Shipped
New Teknetics G-2 selling for $519 Shipped
New Garrett AT Pros selling for $485 Shipped
2-3 Dealers selling at 5-10% over cost:shrug:... !!
I had a used Teknetics Omega 2 Coil Combo priced at $550...that is about $510 after shipping and paypal... A friend emailed me and said my prices were too high because there was a dealer selling the same combo new for less than what I was selling my used one for... While this is good for the:clapping: customer, I think that it hurts some dealers who are more dependant on their sales to:cry: pay the bills... Also, the dealers who are taking trade-ins won't be giving as much for used equipment...Best to all, Richard

I think most people understand that for every sale there HAS to be some kind of markup, why in the world you want to be a dealer if you couldn't make money?I have made lots of deals, trades, new machines and used machines with you and don't even ask about markup or profit your making. That's because I trust you and want you to make money so you remain a dealer for a long time, personally I think your prices are MORE than fair.I have and will pay a bit more just to do business with my friend--Richard@Backwoods Detectors--HH Kurt

there most likely not stocking dealers. They rely on on the distributors to "drop ship" for them. They have no cost involved to them in overhead, so only making $50 or so is all profit for them.

When a dealer is required to carry, or chooses to carry units in stock, he develops a much different attitude on how much profit is needed.

In reality, metal detector markup's, or profits, are perhaps the lowest of any commodity retailed out there.

So Mr.Bill couldn't a Dealer get into a lot of trouble from the Manufacturer by selling at too low of a mark up ?

They can be prevented from advertising below a certain price, but they can sell it at any price. Once they purchased it, they own it. They can give it away if they choose.

If you have the slightest issue Richard solves it immediately.. That's Priceless !!

I have to agree, good customer service and rapid follow up to resolve issues is well worth paying extra. All it takes is one bad experience to make a person realize that. I haven't purchased from Richard (yet), but (from all the good reviews here) I will in the future. I made the mistake of buying my detector from one of the big dealers and had (probably) the worst customer service experience ever.

I was especially impressed with his customer service in re to a guy that had problems with his Fisher F75 (posted today). That's the problem with the world today...too many companies with the Wal Mart mentality (and poor customer service to match) and not enough of the small guys that really give a crap about happy customers. What the big companies don't realize is that (especially in the MD industry), we have choices and that bad experience news travels fast, especially in a small circle like ours.

Richard, I'm sure things will keep going your way as long as you try to remain as competitive as possible on price, but even more importantly, keep the high level of customer service!

I have bought and traded more than a few detectors with and from Richard. He is the best and I will not deal with anyone else. I will sell a detector now and then, but when I want to buy, I go to Richard. Or if I have one I want to trade. Richard is as honest as they come.
